This time I hope actual PROGRESSIVE Conservatives will show up and participate.

  1. I suspect a lot of it depends on how many of the memberships Chandler sold belong to people who have bought into the "scorched earth" approach that Chandler's using. (Or will most of them simply stay home?)

  2. Indifference is not an option. We always get the kind of government we deserve whether we particpated or not.

Whoever wins this has a lock on the riding. The Liberals only got 21% last time and Chandler's vote will come out of the 14% that went to the Alliance. It's definitely one of the safer seats in the city.

It is interesting to note that Craig Chandler is still sending around his "Democracy Denied" flyer, but now it is being delivered WITH Vicki Engel's campaign material.

Calgary Egmont is NOT a safe seat.

    It is probably going Liberal.

Under Chandler it would have gone Liberal. Under anyone else - the reality is that the maximum the Liberals have EVER got there is 28%. That and the Liberal candidate hasn't even started campaigning. Game over.

I got Chandler info today as well info Riverbend. Not sure where you are.

Unfortunately, I only received Chandler info and not Vicki Engel information.

Being that a nomination is on maybe the Engel campaign started in a different area. I think we are seeing too many monsters under the bed.

In Alberta's political climate, there is no such thing as a "safe seat". This is not a bad thing. It ensures those of us who want to be your representatives in the Legislature are accountable and forces us to get out and meet the people whom we wish to represent.
The time leading up to the election, or nomination in my case, is a job interview. This is the opportunity for the constituents to ask the “tough” questions of the candidates. Constituents can then make their decision on who to vote for based on who they feel will be most effective in representing their interests. The only difficulty lies in trying to reach all 40000 (approx) people who live in the riding in a very short time.

There would be at least 10 other seats in Calgary to fall before Egmont did. It's solid tory by a LARGE margin.

If Don Middleton wins or Vicki Engel wins it is a safe Tory seat.

Jonathan Denis is in negative campaign mode again and is further fracturing supporters.

I got a call from one of his people and they were very negative and if Jonathan wins, I am voting Liberal.

The only negative campaign I see is from Vicki Engel trying to blame Chandler's terrible campaign tactics on others. I'd be happy with Jonathan or Don.

If Vicki Engel, Chandler's funkie, wins, I'm voting Liberal.

Vicki Engel is running a negative campaign just like Chandler did, blaming everyone else.

Craig Chandler never ran a negative campaign he merely outworked Jonathan Denis.

As for this campaign it is Jonathan Denis that is calling up members and running a negative campaign. I know I was called and what Jonathan Denis and his team are saying about Vicki Engel is disgusting.

All that the Jonatha Denis campaign has succeeded in doing is insuring that I do not vote for Vicki or him.

I will be supporting Don Middleton to end this BS fighting.

Jonathan Denis needs to grow up!

You know it's more than likely Craig Chandler writing when the spelling is bad and the rant is self-serving to him.

You lost, Craig. Go back to Hamilton.

Wierd how people are so obseesed with Chandler and how anyone one with a dissenting opinion is automatically labelled as Chandler?

As a member of Calgary Egmont I know what happened.

I voted for Rick Smith as my first choice and Chandler as my second choice.

This time I think it might be Don Middleton as my first and Vicki Engel as my second.

    Anyone but Jonathan Denis.

If Jonathan wins (which I expect)the negative crap will continue. All Jonathan Denis knows is negative and attacks.

I'm voting for Don Middleton as he seems like more of a red tory but I have not seen one negative attack from Jonathan Denis - only from Craig Chandler and his sock puppets. Funny how it's those most guilty of negative campaigning that try to make it stick to others.

umm I was one of the officials at the Egmont nomination on November 17 last year. Most of Chandler's people voted him as #1 and no #2 but virtually all of them that did have a second choice voted for Denis.

Smith's second went to Denis and Denis's second went to Smith.

Craig, all you and your sock puppets are doing is negative American style politics. If that's what you want, go south and be with dubya.

We know you're behind all of the negative attacks.
