Are the Harper Cons Capable to Govern Canada?

I have oft accused the Harper Cons of bluster, bullying and brashness. The National Post column by John Turley-Ewart: “Failing the Bernier Test – Stephen Harper’s chance to shine is fading” is a very telling example of the reprehensible manner our government is dealing with the concerns of our country. The itemized recent exchanges in the House of Commons and the Harper Cons sneering approach to its responsibility for “governing” is underscored in this column. Read it and judge for yourself

Dion's constant whining that the Conservatives are bullies only makes him look weaker (if that is even possible!). Dion's internal polls must show that they will take a lickin in the next election or they would have called an election by now.

"Are teh Harper Cons Capable to Govern Canada?"

Ah, they have been doing it for a long time! It is the longest minority government in history.

I do not think Canadians take the Bernier incident that seriously. In fact, the polls seem to indicate so - since Bernier resigned, the polls have not changed. Dion is still seen as the worst leader in Quebec. During an election campaign, leadership will be recognized.

  3. Yes Harper is the longest serving minority government in Canadian history - and the least advancement of the well being of the well being of Canadians as a result.

Most of his time has been spent trying to get defeated by using bullying and procedural trickery instead of good governing.

He wanted s fixed election dates and the Commons agreed with that. The least he could do is try to honour his own legislation and make a serious attempt to govern until then don't ya think?

That would be the kind leadership Canadians were looking for in him in Jan 2006. He has been such a disappointment..and now he is becoming dangerous.

  4. Ken - give it a rest.

Your ranting regarding Harper is becoming shrill, and oh so tiresome.

Let me say that this particular Albertan does not miss the good 'ol days of Liberal mismanagement and corruption. Shawinigate, HR, Adscam and the still missing $40 million, ad nauseum. The best the Libs can do is small beer on the Cons, and there is no question of the basic decency of middle class Harper and his family.

I LIKE paying less taxes, and prefer less Government interference in my life that the Cons provide and stand for. The real example of Liberal nanny state politically correct hypocrisy - The BC Human Rights Commission attempting to curb even further your right to free speech.

Can you actually say that you were proud of having to have the Americans protect us since the Chretien government allowed our defence forces fall into such disrepair and poverty?

Can you imagine a greater embarrassment than having our troops having to hitchhike to defend Canada's interest like some third rate banana republic.

Ken - dumping on the Cons after so many ridiculous years with the Libs is.....silly.

  5. Harper's paid advertizing antics and endless ad hominem attacks on Dion are really shrill and tiresome...especially from a group we elected to provide good government 2.5 years ago.

The Cons are so stuck in yesterday while the world has moved on to face real challenges. You guys have had your successes, like a whopping 2% GST cut that took 2 years to implement and that has made no difference in the real lives of Canadians. You eliminate universal child care efforts and pass out $100 monthly cheques to young families and tax them for the privilege and call that “choice in child care.” You pass an Accountability Act but fail refuse or neglect to proclaim it so your political buddies can constantly skirt around it.

Your anonymous comment is so much like the guys who can really dish it out but can't take it. A character flaw by any measure!

I can see why you feel some pain but brace yourself Anon - it is only going to get worse.
